Coolsculpting is the world’s leading cryolipolysis procedure — and completely different from all the other body-contouring treatments that came before. For a long time, removing fat meant using lasers or surgery, which frequently damaged the surrounding healthy tissues, requiring long recovery times and had a significant risk of side effects.
Cryolipolysis was discovered by Harvard scientists who studied how fat cells behaved during frostbite. Since they freeze at higher temperatures than other cells, it’s possible to destroy them without disturbing the surrounding areas.
Essentially, the fat cells get broken down and dissolve in your body. While the process is slow and takes up to 12 weeks to see the full results, the change is permanent. Those fat cells won’t come back to the same spot afterward.
Even if you gain weight in the future, fat cells won’t assume the same pattern and are likely to distribute fat more evenly.

There are no needles involved whatsoever — the treatment works with special paddles that quickly cool down and target certain areas for 45 minutes to an hour, destroying about 27% of the fat cells in that area during that time.

Does Coolsculpting tighten the skin?
This is a great question which many patients have. CoolSculpting is brilliant at eliminating fat, however, it is not designed to tighten skin. Fortunately, the FDA now clears CoolSculpting to not only permanently reduce neck and chin fat, but to also improve lax tissues in the submental area. CoolSculpting is the first and only non-surgical fat reduction technology to be FDA-cleared in this manner. Will Coolsculpting damage my skin?
No. Fat freezes at a different temperature than skin, which is how CoolSculpting is able to specifically target fat cells while not damaging surrounding tissues. There are temperature receptors going throughout the whole duration of the cycle and if there is an unregulated temperature sensor, the machine will automatically stop the cycle.
How many treatments do I need?
Typically, ideal patients can expect two treatment visits, spaced between 4-12 weeks apart. However, the treatment plan is 100% based on your starting point, your desired end result and your expectations. What results can I expect from Coolsculpting?
People generally experience a 27% reduction of fat cells in target areas per treatment. While some results may be noticeable within 4-6 weeks, expect the most noticeable results to be apparent 12-16 weeks after treatment. Why? The reason is because it takes the body this time to fully flush the dead fat cells through our lymphatic system.
