Does the Skin Pen hurt?
Prior to the start of your Skin Pen treatment, we will cleanse the skin and apply a numbing anesthetic. This helps to reduce any potential discomfort during the treatment. Most patients experience a light sensation during treatment, similar to the touch of a cat’s tongue. Immediately post, you may feel warmth on the skin for up to a few hours.
How many treatments of Skin Pen do I need?
The amount of treatments needed for Skin Pen depends on individual skin health goals. During your initial consultation, we’ll recommend a treatment plan to help you achieve your goals.
How long before I can wear makeup again?
After your Skin Pen treatment, you can expect mild redness and swelling for 2-4 days after treatment, similar to a very mild sunburn. Most patients can return to their makeup application in as little as 24 hours. Individual results may vary.
How long until I see results from Skin Pen?
You’ll notice healthier-looking skin immediately after, but the repair process, started by microneedling, typically progresses over the course of 3-4 weeks.
Can I get a Skin Pen If I have an active breakout?
We do not treat overactive breakouts with Microneedling. It is best to hold off until the breakout has subsided. The needles will come into contact with the acne bacteria under the skin’s surface and spread it, potentially flaring the breakout even more.
Can I get Skin Pen if I have a darker skin tone?
Unlike some alternatives, Skin Pen has been clinically proven effective for women and men with all Fitzpatrick Skin Types I-VI. As the Skin Pen technology does not add heat to the skin, the risk of PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) is much lower than traditional treatments like Radio Frequency Microneedling and some Laser treatments.
How do I prepare for my Skin Pen Treatment?
We ask patients to prepare for their Skin Pen treatment by refraining from the use of Retinol, Glycolic, artificial self-tanner and other active acids a minimum of 4 days before scheduled treatment.
