Does the Plexr Treatment Hurt?

Prior to the start of your Plexr treatment, we will cleanse the skin and apply a numbing anesthetic. This helps to reduce any potential discomfort during the treatment. Most patients experience a heat sensation during treatment, mainly a slight warming. The heat typically dissipates within 1-4 hours post-treatment.

The amount of treatments needed for Plexr treatments depends on individual skin health goals. During your initial consultation, we’ll recommend a treatment plan to help you achieve your goals. Our typical Plexr Program runs for 2-3 treatments per area of concern.

After your Plexr treatment, you can expect mild redness and swelling for 2-4 days after treatment, similar to a very mild sunburn. You will also see the markings on the skin for 5-10 days post treatment. Makeup can be applied after day 4 of treatment.

You’ll notice healthier-looking skin immediately after, but the repair process and collagen enhancement will start to be seen over the course of 3-4 weeks.

We do not treat overactive breakouts with Plexr. It is best to hold off until the breakout has subsided. The needles will come into contact with the acne bacteria under the skin’s surface and spread it, potentially flaring the breakout even more. 

Unlike some alternatives, Plexr has been clinically proven effective for women and men with all Fitzpatrick Skin Types I-VI. For skin types 4-6 we recommend starting with a skincare program explicitly designed to reduce active pigmentation in the skin prior.

We ask patients to prepare for their Plexr treatment by refraining from the use of Retinol, Glycolic and other active acids a minimum of 4 days before scheduled treatment.
