How many treatments will I need?

Since hair grows in stages, multiple treatments will be needed. Typically, patients require between 6 – 10 treatments.

Most patients describe the sensation of treatment to be similar to a warm rubber band snapping, which immediately resolves once the treatment is completed.

You will notice results after the first visit – treatments are spaced 4-6 weeks apart. You can expect to see a gradual decrease in the hair’s thickness and density over the course of your treatment plan.

Preparing for laser hair reduction is less about preparation and more about what not to do before treatment. Before your appointment:

  • Do not wax, tweeze or sugar the area to be treated.

Laser hair reduction works with the hair shaft as a vehicle to guide the laser energy down into the unwanted hair follicle to destroy it. If the unwanted hair is removed before the procedure, the laser energy will not have a way to travel to the follicle, and therefore, it cannot be destroyed.

  • Do not use depilatory creams on the area to be treated

The chemicals within the products may cause skin irritation and make the skin hypersensitive to the laser. Creating the laser hair reduction treatment more painful to you.

  • Do not tan before your laser hair reduction appointment

BareHR can treat all skin types, including skin of colour; however, ultraviolet light -whether it is from the sun or a tanning bed – can make the skin hypersensitive to the laser, which can lead to a more painful treatment and possibly damage the skin. 

  • Do not apply self-tanner or a spray tan

 Artificial tans dye the skin. The artificial pigment on the surface of the skin distracts the laser from its ultimate goal – the hair.

Please note that artificial tans can linger on the surface of the skin for up to 4 weeks on the body.
